Lol, he sounds like everyone should have known how to get a web browser up and running from the second they boot up a 360.

The issue most people are really complaining about when they say the 360 has no web browser, is that there isn't a simple point a click, integrated, easy way to get online.
If you were thinking that installing, and setting up a media server was the way to go to get online and that you dont need no integration of web browser and GUI, then I guess your in the same boat as this guy.

this is correct and also VERY OLD, i have seen article on here about this ages ago and have tried it out myself.

if anyone wants to know how to use it you have to install an add on on the PC first otherwise you cannot access the web. also the keyboard input on the Xbox 360 when using this add on isnt too good to be perfectly honest.

i dont even use the web browser on my PS3 i use my PC, its much better.

Many many people have Windows Media Center, further, Vista has it in Home and Ultimate.

Many people have WMC, and more every day. Its a very compelling feature. I've got many plugins (streaming radio, bittorrent client, browser)

I use my TV Tuner and Radio Tuner cards and use my Xbox 360 as a TiVo (pause live TV and radio, record broadcasts..). Oh, and Internet TV works terrific -- I've been able to enjoy every episode of Arrested Development for free.

Useless and crap. For one, i wouldn't want MS knowing everything I'm watching (MS is hand-in-hand with big brother) and downloading thru bit torrent, and i'd rather go with 3rd party software. I don't even use windows media player unless I have to. heck, i don't even use my ps3's internet unless i'm without my pc or my friend is using it. Basically, WMC is for ppl who are newbs to using computer media. heck, the ps3 is my most advanced piece of hardware bc things have been rough (I bought it with my income tax check mainly so I can play MGS4, GTA, and a few others) Here is my pc's specs because i haven't been able to upgrade:
1.4g P4, 256 RDRam, Geforce 5200 256mb, 5gb OS HDD, 40gb secondary HDD, 20gb 3rd HDD, dvd burner. XP sp2.
Needless to say, i won't bother with running WMC with my 360 when I get it this summer. I'd rather watch stuff on my pc (heck, i barely watch tv, only adult swim, and that is only for family guy, futurama, and one or 2 non-mentally retarded shows (seriously, adult swim has gone down hill, heck, off a cliff. Tim and Eric need to be fired and beat))

Or, you've got people over, and someone want to show the group an article or picture or somesuch?

Is anyone going to sit and surf the web by themselves for hours using the Xbox 360 and the TV instead of their own PC? Doubtful, but it is at least as useful as the browsers on the other consoles - which is the point, it is of limited practical use as a solid "surfing terminal" -- but it has its place and use.

Broader, and more important really, is all the *OTHER* things that the Windows Media Center does.

MS & NBC havent announced it yet, but I suspect the summer Olympics are going to have their best, and most complete coverage delivered on-demand on Windows Media Center.

Anyone who has it, can see that there is quality content coming all the time, MS is having material produced directly for the Xbox 360. The bottom line, Windows Media Center *is* the end-game for Internet & TV integration. Its here, its happening, and the Xbox 360 brings it to your living room.

This is a healthy addition, why would so many people see this as a negative, don't use it if you don't like it, personally I think it is a great thing, besides I don't want my Xbox-360 hardrive being corrupted by temporary internet files, I will let my PC do the virus/spyware scanning and firewall activity and let my Xbox-360 do the streaming, it called an entertainment hub, e.g you can download way more movies off the internet than you can the marketplace or PSN, and the quality of the streaming is superb.

I use to use my internet on my ps3 until I got my HD 32in tv and connected my computer and my ps3 up to it so there no point in it now. Its good to use when your looking at movies/vids and you can blow it up full screen on your tv. Its also good for dling content like themes/mods and just recently I seen the first game integrate it with registration(MGS4 beta).

But anyways that sounds too much like a hassle to get it 4 360 I just 4get about it if I had 1..

You chose to pick at Sony for a few details that have either one, been rectified due to user complaints, or two, have no bearing on my fondness for the already great experience in gaming on the PS3. One thing that the PS3 has that the 360 does not that will always stand out and that is a reputation for reliability. I could go on but you get the point. I would rather be stuck having to buy a 7 dollar HDMI cable than to have the hassle of sending my 360 in for repairs due to a faulty construction.

Wait and see? Yeah, I will wait and see just how MS takes their time to fix their broken console. If you want to claim unbias then buy yourself a PS3. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut as you make no sense to those of us that have no problems with what Sony has delivered.

I can go online, play with my buddies - for free, chat with up to 5 other friends over video - for free, browse the web - for free (no need to buy a MC PC), download games - full games and great arcade titles, I have rumble in my controller and motion control, I watch BD movies and upscale all of my DVD's to 1080p, I connect to my PC and stream virtually every form of media to my big screen TV and surround sound system, I play some of the best games made to date and have a future of games confirmed that look awesome, I can update and upgrade my HDD with any HDD on the market and do not have to pay a premium for overpriced first party crap, I play on a console that has an open network that allows for true user generated content, etc., etc., etc.

I was a die hard 360 fan but due to MS letting us down with crap hardware and the too little, too late attitude they have in actually fixing the friggin console, I have since become a little less of a fan and more of an advocate for quality hardware. As long as Sony produces quality hardware and continues to listen to the users as they have through their blog then by all means, I will support them. I still have a 360, my 5th one in fact, but it is there for exclusives only. it's not worth turning on for multiplats when you know it will just puke out on ya again, and again, and again...

Thats absolute garbage and you know it. When MS realized they had a problem, they manned-up to it, and took care of its customers.

Everyone gets a free repair, everyone gets an extended warranty. And, MS has undertaken a great deal of redesign for the purpose of fixing the heat issue.

MS has given its customers -- and the market -- a great deal of confidence, they've said "we messed up, but **WE ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF YOU**".

The PS2 was notoriously failure-prone, I've got *THREE* broken PS2s in my closet, right now. In my medium sized-city, there were always "PS2 repaired" ads in the classifieds. There were small-time electronics shops with "PS Repaired Here" in the Window. Not just one or two, but many. And, when you went in, they were stacked everywhere in various states of repair and or being parted-out.

Did SONY step up to the plate and fix all those broken PS2s? No, they didnt. So dont give us this crap about MS "too little too late".

MS has no horses in the race for movies/music products. Sony is in both the RIAA and MPAA. MS is a retailer, while Sony is a producer *and* a retailer. MS is vastly less invested in screwing you over than Sony is. And since my Ps3 is my main game console and has a browser - admittedly slow as - I'm not going to be booting up the 360 just to browse the web. I'm sticking to my Linux PC for that. Plus the memory limitations on the console mean you can't have many pages open at the same time - a huge firefox tab browser fan here.

And I'm sure the 360 will have similar limitations. However, most owners would likely have a Windows PC as well, so no loss there. Just browse on the PC.

I think its great in my case. I now have internet access in every room in my house now with the xbox 360's. From my bed room to my sons room to the den. I have the MS Keypad for my controllers so typing is a breeze. The only thing is I am having problems typing numbers in. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? My son loves this feature. He can visit gaming sites or basketball sites in his bed room.

I'm actually using my elite 360 hooked up to my 61 inch 1080p tv right now, on News4gamers. Sitting back in my living room. It looks amazingly sharp and you can zoom in on web pages on the fly. Pretty good stuff.

So while it might not be a big selling point for the average consumer. I absolutely love it and it works for me and my family.

P.S. sorry ive been away for so long. My son has made the big time with basketball and we've been traveling all over the country. I miss this site but I won't be able to frequent it as often as I used to.

first of all mr "dlim..err..slim daddy"..no cvc on the market will upsample to 1080p...to 1080i yes. This again is not much better then 720p actually. And as for the web browser in the x360 why not just another feture that is there for ppl to use if they want. I have all 3 systems and each one has it pros and cons. As for my uses for each are varied. I use all 3 on my home net work and can see them(3 computers included) on my 61inch lg plazma or my 32inch lcd in the bed room. Yes i have alot of toys ..so many infact i have some in the boxs that i havent got around to using yet. This web browser may be useless to some but many can get use outta it. Kudos for MS for giving the end user options.
