Makes sense considering NMS shipped three months ago. GG contracted developers from CDPR to work on Horizon for their experience in RPGs. These things happen, but it's strange that a single no name developer helping on another game is news worthy... I'm not even giving my click bc this is obvious clickbait. They want ppl to glance at the headline and think it is Sean Murray that left. They call him NMS designer instead of developer and they use the word abandon instead of left. Obviously they have motives.

I gave in and clicked and it's trash. They claim NMS was arguably the worst reviewed game of the year.NMS wasn't even close. t's a 71 on Metacritic which is better than the likes of Mafia 3, Recore,Super Dungeon Bros, and certainly 7 Days to Die.

phantomexe2738d ago

You noticed that too lol. Good eye funny how he picked those words wouldnt you say but sure he wasn't trying to get clicks.....

Minimoth2737d ago

It actually says worst received not reviewed, which is actually pretty accurate if you ask me as it refers to regular gamers not biased critics. To quote wikipedia, "In addition to its mixed response from critics, player reaction to the release version of No Man's Sky has generally been negative in response to several issues at the game's launch, buoyed by early reactions from those that had played the game before its official release." Also, the PC version has a metacritic score of 61 (2.6 user score) while Mafia 3 is a bit better with 63 (3.2) so on PC at least NMS is in fact one of the worst received games this year.

ChronoJoe2737d ago (Edited 2731d ago )

A games reception usually refers to all facets of its reception, including its critical, commercial and general consumer reception. NMS received an okay critical reception, and a good comercial reception. The consumers perception of the game went drastically downhill when Hello Games decided not to combat the games issues, leaving NMS to rot, seemingly.

In either case, it doesn't refer to regular gamers, or anything specifically, 'reception' in itself is a broad term and it seems you've read into it what you want. Either way, I think we can agree that NMS wasn't well received as a whole. As for 'worst received' it depends on which angle you chose to take.

IamTylerDurden12737d ago

Gtfo. It sold 2 million on PS4, that's the Metacritic ppl are interested in. That Metacritic is 71.

Concertoine2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

@ChronoJoe

When i think "good consumer reception", i dont picture record level refunds.

Im sure there were worse games this year though.

Except the people that they hired from CD projekt Red we're actually not even the people that were even developing anything in regards to RPGs

They hired somebody who did the cinematics , they hired someone who did level design and I believe they hired someone else.

But if you actually read the task at those people were hired to actually do you will realize that they were not hired simply because they worked on an RPG and Guerilla Games didn't know how to make one is that seems a bit strange considering they're working on the game since 2011 long before they ever even hired those three people to work on those three aspects...

IamTylerDurden12737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

They worked on quest design. Wtf is your point? They also hired John Gonzales who worked on Fallout and Mordor. Obviously they hired these ppl in part bc they are experienced in rpgs.

_-EDMIX-_2737d ago

@iam-

http://www.dualshockers.com...

One person was hired from their team that did anything from questing of a team of hundreds of people I'm actually doubtful that he was hired specifically to create their entire game in regards to all the quest.

Mind you.. it was being worked on since 2011 before they even hired those developers in the first place.

wsoutlaw872737d ago

Why did you feel the need to get defensive about that?

4Sh0w2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

NOOOOOO don't go mess up Star Citizen now. lol, -Just kidding guys, best of luck to him, I'm sure he learned alot from working on NMS.

Guess they had a new opening in their Unmet Expectations Division.

ShowanW2737d ago

people will not anything or anyone, associated with 'no mans sky' just quietly fade away.

at a base level No Mans Sky can be something huge, given if Hello Games had the money and time to do it on a grand scale...

Palitera2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

Yeah, because they didn't have tons of money and time.

The game design sucks deeply.
[edit: reasons]

Fishy Fingers2737d ago

Pretty sure during the interview process they'd of built up a better idea of the guy and the quality of his work than you or I.

ShowanW2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

@Palitera

on paper (and in concept) No Mans Sky was MUCH BIGGER than the staff at Hello Games realized.

there was NO way Hello Games was going to be able to bring the vision to fruition being a small Indie Studio with a VERY limited budget.

Give Hello Games a quarter of the budget that Grand Theft Auto gets and some time, I would bet that it would be a much better game.

the game didn't deliver... i wont excuse that.
hello games bit off more than they could chew...

but i will give props to a very very interesting concept though...

Also it should not have been a $60 game

Star Citizen showcases the creation of the two brand-new animals coming to alpha 3.23

Land on any planet in Star Citizen currently and you’ll be greeted by things like weather patterns, flora, and very possibly a derelict or two. What you won’t find are any animals, however. That’s going to change with alpha 3.23’s release, as CIG has finally put together two animals to populate certain planets. That’s not quite three, but it’s more than one!
