Horizon: Zero Dawn - Review | Sirus Gaming

Lex Tablante: "Previously I stated in my preview of Horizon: Zero Dawn that Guerrilla Games managed to prove that they can do more than first-person shooters. That statement still remains clear and true. Playing through the wilds and vastness throughout the lands with Aloy was one fulfilling moment that I will never forget."

Congrats another 10! I wont be surprised if this game's metacritic boost from 88 to 89 or even 90!!

Krangs_Uncle2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

Sirus Gaming isn't on Metacritic.. Infact a lot of the 10's on N4G recently have not been on Metacritic which is a shame. Reviews that have been added on there recently have actually put it in danger of hitting 87. It was on track for 89 but sites are now dragging it down.

rivaldoo7772656d ago

Well still cant drag down the consumers from getting hyped about this upcoming Masterpiece!!

affrogamer2656d ago

I actually emailed metacritic yesterday about 10 links of sites with scores ranging from 9-10 and they responded that none of those sites are tracked by them (Gaming Bolt included surprisingly) so unfortunately they can't add their reviews.

mynameisdon2656d ago

I don't fudging understand why the hell aren't they on. Metacritic? It's complete bullshot that people take them so seriously when they cherry pick there reviews! Everyone equates it now with a freaking 8! Even though it us a 9! And people don't see a 8.8 they just see the 8 and equate it in the same catagory as halo wars 2!! And that's like a 8.1 don't matter if it's a 8.1 or 8.9 people just see the 8 and alot of people think its average.... If it hit a magical 9 from that bullshot metacritic it would be considered goty by many people who are dumb... I seriously lost all respect for metacritic, it isn't all the reviews! They cherry pick! Call them fir what they are, a site that adds everything lower than a 9 in abundance and everything above a 8 in moderation and 10's rarely. Why oh why do people take them seriously? I would love a genuine answer, I personally am a PC gamer,i don't own a ps4, but I see how messed up this is when they are intentionally damaging the games legacy like this!

MagicBeanz2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

I know isn't it funny, or maybe telling, how USgamer can get their bullshit score on Meta but this site cant. Just more proof meta is meaningless really.

sullynathan2656d ago

why is it a shame? Why do you care so much for metacritic? It should say a lot that N4G members go out of their way to find no-name sites that give games 10/10 or 1/10's.

Dark_Knightmare22656d ago

How close to danger are we talking jw

tmisellati2656d ago

for this reason , i stopped following metacritic. i found opencritic to be more fair because i can choose what website can affect the score. i chose 30 respected websites that to affect games score. now , HZD is hitting 92 on my opencritic profile.

Strange_Evil2655d ago (Edited 2655d ago )

I really don't think a 87 or 88 or even a 90 is that different for a game TBH. This gen, critics are much stricter compared to last gen with regards to rating games and many have moved to a 0.5 scale which is why anything above 85 is a AAA title. Just checkout the number of titles with metacritic > 90 this gen compared to the same time last gen and you'll find a massive difference.

Titles like DarkSouls 3, Nioh, Horizon ZD, Battlefield 1 would have easily scored > 90 last gen so the scale itself has changed. For me this game is a gem that anyone with a PS4 should buy.

Another 10! Sirus and the other publications are already doing constant reviews and getting copies. They should be considered to be added on Metacritic to make everything fair for the game and developer.

Still, I'm excited to get my copy this 28! :)

Sirus_Gaming2656d ago

Even if we got a pre-release copy, I still pre-ordered the CE. It's damn worth it for my collection. :)

psychometer2656d ago

Good for you! Good job with the review, by the way. Horizon deserves the 10/10. I hope you guys be included in Metacritic soon though.

mynameisdon2656d ago

One more thing.... I hate how
When. People talk about this great game they will reference meta and say... "It didn't do to bad either with the score, 88. Great but not amazing.... " it suuuucks how on YouTube and everywhere people treat this like a freaking 88 . It's faaar beyond a 8. And if metacritic as any damned honesty it would be sitting at a damned 9.3 right now!

psychometer2656d ago

Well said. Metacritic should be more fair. That's why I think OpenCritic is the best aggregate website for game reviews. :)

tmisellati2656d ago

i agree
opencritic is better place for aggregate reviews

ninsigma2656d ago

It's ridiculous that they have their list of sites that are accepted but there is no check in place to make sure an accepted site isn't doing a troll review. Having accepted sites is fine as long as they actually quality control properly. In fact I think any website that submits themselves should be allowed on the score (ok maybe not any site, they should be a big enough site I guess) and give strikes against them for poor reviews. Then 3 strikes and their out. So if a review is reported by the community as a poor review it should be investigated. If they find its poor then it's removed from the score and a strike given to that website. Also, there should be no weighting. Just because a site is a big name doesn't mean their review is more right than anyone elses.

mynameisdon2656d ago

Yeah, I think it's only fair to have everyone's opinion heard, there are literally like 10 tens floating around, say someone owned a restaurant and they only allowed half the people to review, it wouldn't be right because I'm sure everyone would appreciate every opinion good or bad.

OpinionSmasher2656d ago

this game got a 10.......are you kidding me. GTA 5 didnt even get a 10 in my book how the fuck did they give this a 10.

Nyxus2656d ago

Why don't you read the review and find out?

Every PlayStation Studios game available now on Windows PC

Windows Central writes: "Many PlayStation Studios games that are ported to PC get dedicated PS5 DualSense support, which allows users to experience haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support without actually having to own a PS5.

According to Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, it's still the company's intent to launch the bigger single-player games on PS5 first, before later bringing the games to PC. This might not be the case for multiplayer games however, which are considered okay to launch simultaneously on console and PC."

Former Activision studio Toys for Bob partners with Xbox to publish its first game as an indie

Former Activision studio Toys for Bob partners with Xbox to publish its first game as an indie. This is something of a homecoming, as Microsoft owns Activision.

Very very early in development. Still, fantastic news!

Let´s GO!!!

Lightning7714h ago

I guess.

How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )

At least it wouldn't be MS of all ppl destroying them.

MS really should let go Tango go like they did TFB here.

darthv7214h ago(Edited 14h ago)

one was under Bethesda (Tango) the other under Activision (TFB). Clearly each one handled the separations of their subordinates differently.

Obscure_Observer14h ago(Edited 13h ago)

"How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )"

Perhaps because Zenimax and ABK handles such matters differently based on their own internal policies as "independent" publishers.

Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future. Which could also be the reason why they ensured an exclusive partnership with TFB and its new game, before anyone else.

Sad and disgusting. But it is what it is.

Lightning7710h ago(Edited 10h ago)

"Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future."

MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB.

It's inexcusable, they have options on how to handle studios they don't want anymore with killing jobs. Not just MS but the rest of the industry also.

Sad and disgusting sure how many will get shut down next year or this year even?

I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another.

Obscure_Observer3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Imo, MS separated from TFB because they didn´t had a game associated with Xbox yet, unlike Tango.

"I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another."

Fair enough. It was indeed an epic dumb move from them to close Tango.

Still, all to be forgotten, like always have. This is not the first time a big publisher shuts down a beloved and/or successful studio out of nowhere and certainly won´t be the last. Do you remember Lionhead? Do you remember Evolution Studios? Yeah... both were beloved studios and yet, those companies kill those studios in q blink of an eye and got away with it.

anast24m ago(Edited 24m ago)

The studio boss made some money from this transaction. Once the game releases, the studio will get chopped up.

-Foxtrot16h ago

Manages to buy their freedom especially after all the shit Microsoft has been doing with its studios lately

...

Goes right back to them as partners.

Okaaaaaay...

darthv7214h ago

Id venture a guess that TFB working directly with MS was a better outcome than working through Activision to get to MS.

VersusDMC12h ago

From the article...

"Toys for Bob spun out as an indie back in February after Microsoft instituted sweeping layoffs that impacted 86 employees, which was more than half of the staff"

I doubt those 86 employees enjoyed the Microsoft experience over Activisions.

Inverno12h ago

MS shuts down studios because of lack of resources and then helps these guys by giving em resources. Also MS is what forced them to buy their freedom in the first place? What kind of logic 😂

Chevalier9h ago

The best thing is that the company that is worth $3 trillion and owns the company instead of Xbox lacks resources. How the hell does a company worth $3 trillion making a measly $70 billion purchase they 'can't' support. Lol

Sciurus_vulgaris14h ago(Edited 14h ago)

Xbox’s gaming division seems to still function as 3 semi-autonomous sub-divisions, Xbox Studios, Bethesda and ABK. The three main sub-divisions can seemingly shut down or build studios and set up partnerships independently. This would explain why Bethesda can recently shutdown studios, while ABK spins off one studio, while building a new one. Plus, Toys for Bob could be spun off by ABK, only to immediately re-partner with Microsoft.

Chevalier9h ago

That's absolutely 💯 BS. Any sane 'autonomous' company would NOT put their games on Gamepass day 1 like COD will lose probably billions.

Also they're all under Xbox game studios so any autonomy is an illusion.

Elda9h ago

Either a kiddie game or something uninteresting.

Obscure_Observer2h ago

Don´t worry. You won´t be playing it anyway since their next game will possible be a next gen Xbox console game.

Elda1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Don't worry about my comments.

What Happens to Your Steam Account When You Die?

The Outerhaven writes: While Steam has come out recently, stating that Steam accounts can't be transferred, we need to think about it since we all will eventually kick the bucket. But if Valve is denying transferring accounts, what can be done? Plenty, actually.

To Steam: Missio has a song that conveys my feelings about you stealing my purchase after I die. It's called "Middle Fingers"

shinoff218322h ago

Pretty much. My son knows my info.

Abear2122h ago

Yeah worrying about digital ownership when you’re on the other side of the grass seems a little strange, but also on brand for these millennial journalists to worry about.

qalpha8h ago

I'm sure Keith will be happy to hear he's a millennial journalist.

Goodguy011d 2h ago

I suppose if I have kids, I'd just give em my account details by retirement age. If I die young then...idk lol.

CrimsonWing691d ago

Yea, I mean just give someone the password to your account. Is that difficult to do or something? Like, I’m legit asking because I don’t know.

anast22h ago(Edited 22h ago)

It's not difficult but It's against the policy. If they find out, they will lock the account permanently.

CrimsonWing6921h ago

Ah ok, I had a feeling there was something like that. It seems kind of weird that you can’t just hand your account over to a family member or friend and let them take over the account.
