The PS4 and Xbox One are both great systems that have brought about some of the prettiest and most immersive gameplay experiences to date. But so far this generation, there's only been one clear leader the whole way.
Days Gone director claims Sony has already poured in at least a $250M in Bend's project; says Days Gone sold more than Death Stranding.
Well that sucks. Seems they want more online trash. I'd rather of had the sequel if it was single player
It would be a shame if it was true that Hermen never gave the franchise a chance simply because he didn't like it and they already had a "Zombie" game with TLOU.
NaughtyDog are most likely moving onto a new IP next so it would have been the perfect time to do it.
Oh great so we only get what the big wigs want… y’know, the people that really have their fingers on the pulse of what their consumers want. Faaaaantastic!
Operating under the username BigKahuna_AGS, Jorjani created a lengthy thread on the Helldivers subreddit to introduce himself to the community following his appointment as CEO in early May.
Game Rant speaks with Frostpunk 2 co-game director and design director Jakub Stokalski about everything 11 bit poured into the sequel.
That's the way I think. It's not about a love for Sony. It's what they're doing for the console industry and gamers that should garner more support. They strive to grow the industry rather than dilute it and become a mirror image of other industries like PC.
Their message was straight and clear: a variety of quality games and how you should share them. Simple winning formula.
Performance. Sony knows that PlayStation does more than games. But they made sure to not split it to do other things simultaneously or not work without an add-on unless you flip a switch. Also,Sony and their teams have spent time and money trying to create game engines that just have that "little more" than other games. Could be lighting, physics, shading, textures, detail, animation, story, etc. That effort raises the bar and is a beacon for others to try to do their best.
Exclusives. Too many to count. Too many to afford. But, whatever you decide to play in the genre you like, Sony and the companies they work with got something special waiting for you. They may not all sell 10 million and be called "niche." But Sony is still supporting those smaller groups of gamers with titles they like too.
Because of their efforts of games first and their success, developers have gravitated towards them to get noticed. That could be exclusives, that could be a free PS Plus game to get noticed or Indy games that Sony gets behind between the bigger, more expensive to produce titles.
PSVR. Yeah. It's not perfect. But it's crazy fun and immersive. Sony could have easily just stuck with regular games and motion games with the camera already being out. But no. Sony took the risk in the console industry and brought something new. That's the thing you want to have from a company. Providing you with something new and something fun. And PSVR is both.
As a side note, I laugh when someone says VR isn't ready and should have waited 5-10 years. Those same gamers sound like they would have said...
"Well, Atari is okay." But just a fad." "Companies should wait 5-10 years for sprites and better controllers." "No wait.." Companies should wait 5-10 years for 3D polygons as that's more realistic and immersive and better controllers." "No wait..." "Companies should wait 5-10 years until..... Do you get my point?
Everything starts somewhere. Even if not entirely perfect. But you can still have fun along the way to something better.
I agree with everything here.
1. The best reveal of the 3 consoles. The Wii U was just confusing for most people who simply thought it was the gaming pad, or add-on until the actual hardware was revealed. The XBO had one of the worse reveals I can remember. PS4 was straightforward and to the point.
2. Price : Performance was heavily in favor of PS4. Wii U was $299 - $349, with performance rivaling the PS3 and Xbox 360. The XBO was $499 because of Kinect, but even worse had weaker hardware than the PS4. PS4 was $399, just $50 more than a Wii U with significantly better hardware, and $100 less than the XBO..... still with better hardware.
3. Exclusive. This is where Nintendo competes, and where MS did at one point. Nintendo has the most established well known franchises in gaming there's no argument there. Xbox has it's small core which did huge things for 360 Halo, Forza, Gears, and Fable. The problem is those two manufactures don't take the chances that Sony takes with DIVERSITY, quantity, and quality. When it comes to those 3 categories PlayStation wins the exclusive battle IMO. Nintendo definitely has quality and eventually quantity, but they lack Diversity to the same degree as Sony. And with MS they lack quantity and Diversity, their franchises have been he same core since the original Xbox (except Gears which still has been that same core staple for over 10 years). Sony keeps their cores going, but they also add new franchises and IP's each generation to build an even better stable of exclusives for EVERYONE.
4. 3rd Party support. This is what kills Nintendo for many gamers. Xbox does very well here and it's what helps gamers overlook their first party woes. That being said thanks to the PS4 selling so extremely well, 3rd party support it has dominated 3rd party support over the last couple of year, to an all time high really this year where it has marketing rights to almost every major 3rd party AAA game. And then things becomes worse when Xbox suffers from a complete lack of 3rd party JP parity due to the console selling horribly in JP and JP games struggling on the platform, and Nintendo having horrible western 3rd party support.
5. The 5th reason is the only one I would change, and I would change it to "Global Consistency". PS has had 4 console generation of consistently great consoles. The PS3 was the only rocky road they had and that was only during the first 3 years of it's lifecycle and mainly due to price, hardware architecture, and media / dev backlash. But after those 3 years the console went on to be another great PS console backed by amazing exclusives, getting down to a consumer friendly price, getting good 3rd party support, and adding more services and features for gamers. The PS4 has continued that same quality set by all its predecessors, and it shows with their global market.
Absolutely!
It's because of all the software support and goodwill and trusting gamers, it's why MS won the last gen until Mattrick came in that is.
What do they mean winning? It's over.
