Sorry but Hellblade is not open world like God of War or have way more diverse enemies. God of War also have RPG elements and optional bosses.

alexgibson2229d ago

"like" God of War, not "10 Games that are in every way extremely similar to all aspects of God of War's design".

VenomUK2229d ago

No 1 on the list: Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.

Cyborgg2229d ago (Edited 2229d ago )

Fair enough. I feel liked GOW is more similar to Bloodborne and the last of us. God of War has way more depth in the gameplay than Hellblade. Don't get me wrong I loved Hellblade but they're different to me. The third person view is only similar

Gardenia2229d ago

When I played GoW for the first few hours it really looked a lot like Hellblade in some places. And also a little bit of a Soul Reaver vibe

Eidolon2229d ago (Edited 2229d ago )

The dark grittyness is the same in some areas, Hellblade was more bland of colors(not saying it's bad), They're also tight over the shoulder, have parry/slash/block/dodge, and are Norse mythology.

StrangerX2229d ago

The gameplay is very similar to Darksiders although with the close camera viewing like Rise:SOR

god of war is not open world

Christopher2229d ago

Stretching the heck out of the term 'like' here. Adding in shooters with no RPG mechanics? Even a bad game like Bound By Flame is more appropriate than those options.

StrangerX2229d ago

Actually GoW takes heaviy from Darksiders in gameplay, combos, looting, Upgrading, changing garments or armor, blowing up stuff with a specific item. JuSt like metroid and zelda started. Except the camera angle.

Yui_Suzumiya2229d ago

Bayonetta and Dante's Inferno are the shiznit

EdwardNigma5612229d ago

Dante's Inferno definitely deserved a sequel. Leave it to EA to kill of a game they can't milk to death.

Yui_Suzumiya2229d ago

They were supposed to make a damn sequel too. Very underrated game. Even the PSP port was good.

Elda2229d ago

There isn't anything out this current gen like the new GOW but GOW.

RememberThe3572229d ago

The Last of Us is the closest I can think of, regardless of gen. GoW is a special game. The new standard for narrative action.

CP_Company2229d ago

how it is closest? enemies are clickers? combat is the same? or game world is the same? story is the same?

played both and both have nothing to do with each other, and feeling playing them is totally different experience.

these comparisons is totally shite, GoW is nothing like tLoU and most of the list is crap.

FernDiggidy2228d ago (Edited 2228d ago )

The last of us? Oh yeah because TLOU has such deep combat mechanics, RPG elements and metroid-vania style open world. Sooo so similar.

RememberThe3572228d ago

Doesn't sound like either of you two have played either game. If you see GOW as a hack and slash light-RPG than you're only seeing a small part of what makes this game so good. The combination of narrative and combat in this game is unmatched, only approached by what TLOU was able to do.

StrangerX2229d ago (Edited 2229d ago )

Actually there is, GoW takes heavily from Darksiders although without the close up camera always, but when War or Death grab an explosive rock to throw at something they take that camera angle too. Very similar gameplay but GoW has a more interesting narrative.

God of War Needs to Redefine Kratos' Purpose Clearly and Quickly

Whatever form the next God of War game takes, it needs to be clear about what role Kratos is playing, lest the franchise lose direction.

I'm pretty sure it'd be a major mistake having Atreus as the main character in the next GoW. Seems to me like at best people tolerate him and his gameplay sections.

Ideally the story for the next game would be that Atreus has gone missing in Egypt, Kratos gets mad about it, picks up Mimir and goes on a god killing rampage.

Mad_Matt3d ago

If that is an option for the dev team then they need to make it a clean slate. No Atreus, No Mimir. That's what happened when he changed pantheons before. Lets Kratos be in that world. But it will be a difficult task to complete. Kratos and his past demons are getting a bit redundant as far as story telling goes.

Nacho_Z3d ago

Yeah there's not a lot of meat left on the bone story wise. Personally I'd happily accept any goofy reason they could come up with for why Kratos is in Egypt chopping off heads. I'm personally not that bothered about the finer points of the storytelling, although they do it well.

The_Hooligan2d ago

I would still like to have Mimir in the next game. They (devs) can justify it by saying that Mimir wants to gain knowledge about other realms/pantheons. Also, personally I think Alastair Duncan did a great job as Mimir and would love to see the continuation of the small banters Kratos and Mimir had in the past games.

The point of Ragnarok's ending is to show that Atreus is his own man now. Having Daddy Kratos save him in Egypt after getting himself into trouble would just undo his entire character development.

Nacho_Z2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

The point was more to do with getting Atreus out of the way rather than him being saved. Let's say he's off on his own adventures then and invent another reason for Kratos to be in Egypt.

Could be that Kratos thinks he's been captured or killed as motivation but at the close of the game it turns out Atreus has been up to his own shady shenanigans.

Lionsguard3d ago

They need to bring back the "God of War" in God of War. I was expecting to unleash hell and fury in Asgard against Thor that they really talked up in the first game but all we got was brooding middle aged dad drunk in a beer hall. Ragnarok was still "good" but I left that game expecting a lot more.

InUrFoxHole3d ago

Tried Rag... just couldn't get into it. Felt like more of the same. I would welcome a Kratos only game again.

Waiting to see what the "Recommended" spec be like!

Skuletor29d ago

Waiting to see if "Minimum" spec targets 30fps 😂

PassNextquestion29d ago

It's my understanding that the frame rate is unlocked on the pc version

Skuletor29d ago

@PassNextquestion
I've seen Ubisoft have PC specs that have targeted 30fps before.

PassNextquestion29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Why the heck do you need Windows 11 to run the game? I remember there was a ssd feature locked to windows 11 not sure if that's still the case and if that's the reason.. direct storage I believe it is called

DivineHand12529d ago

If those are the minimum specs on PC then why can't the series x do more than 30 fps? Did they intentionally lock it to 30 fps when higher frame rates are possible?

PassNextquestion29d ago

Maybe they didn't want to compromise on the graphics

DarXyde29d ago

Very probable, but I can't really believe that when literally, the Series S ensures that they do.

I kind of think they just want to make it 30fps now to make an update later to keep people "on the hook" or give game pass subs something to look forward to with this game later on.

Personally, I think this game can push at least 45fps, but that's just my opinion. I don't really see a game this short being announced before TLOU2 launched, only to come out *now* and they haven't gotten those frames up.

RedDeadLB29d ago

Probably because they wanted better fidelity and that is probably too demanding for the XSX to push a stable 60fps on. Judging how most games are these days, the performance difference between low to high is sometimes not enough to target double the framerate. A locked, smooth 30fps i better than an unstable 60, even though it feels like picking between two turds.
