Yeah...this is no longer a viable option on PC.

Tekken666341501d ago (Edited 1501d ago )

so far the companies that have pledged support are CD Projekt, Ubisoft, Epic, 4A games, Bungie, Bandai Namco, Fromsoftware, Arc System Works, pearl abyss, and Remedy. to name a few.

timotim1501d ago

Thats a good list for sure...but with all of those that have and will drop out...its not a list that will encompass my whole or even most of my library. For a monthly fee, I need to bank on my games being there when I need it.

bradfh1501d ago

companies that stay on GeForce Now is the companies that we should support.

morganfell1501d ago

Lose Xbox and WB and get Ubisoft? Not a good trade.

TheColbertinator1501d ago

So much for cloud gaming. Everyone wants a slice of the market but no one is selling the whole pie.

timotim1501d ago

On the contrary, I think cloud gaming is about to blow up to the biggest its ever been...its just the league setting up who the players are...

TheColbertinator1501d ago

The market will determine the final word if anything, not suits and executives. Like how the publishers thought that mobile gaming would take over and PC gaming would die.

timotim1501d ago

Absolutely, I agree. In this case, the quality of these services and how much they benefit gamers lives will be what sets them apart, and the market will weed out the services where it feels that quality lacking. Library access will be a huge factor in that story as it should.

morganfell1501d ago

"The market will determine the final word if anything, not suits and executives. "

This.

All the money and resources at google couldn't force the cloud. It will happen if people truly want it, not because of marketing or arm twisting.

The problem is that you can’t purchase from their service. Xcloud will be more supported because it will support transactions from the store in the cloud.

You won’t need an Xbox or a PC. This will benefit developers because it will open their game to a larger audience.

GeForce doesn’t provide any Benefit to devs

xX-oldboy-Xx1501d ago

That's the whole truth of the matter. Look how fragmented TV shows and movie are.

Short term will be great for those that jump in, long term not so much.

Its not the direction I want gaming to go.

SLiSH831501d ago

I think MS/Xbox will have the better ecosystem to play in for this.

Build a killer PC for man cave
Xbox in living room
Laptop for road trips
Tablet for short trips to family
Phone for daily down time
All thanks to Xbox/Xcloud

sinspirit1501d ago

Well, the "options" and "pro-consumer" logic was thrown out the window when they didn't have someone buying into their own business. These are games people already own and paid money for, being restricted from access in a way of their choosing, unless that choice is MS. I'm not interested in paying for three subscriptions. Live, GamePass, XCloud. Wheres the negative attention at for a good, currently working, service being restricted by publishers not allowing players to play the games they already own on another service? Instead we're gonna throw compliments and excitement toward a future service? Lol

timotim1501d ago

He isn't allowed to be excited? I can see if they were the only ones that have pulled out, but the truth is they aren't and won't be the last. He is merely saying what he thinks will be better for him to use when it comes to streaming and beyond. Whats wrong with that?

SLiSH831501d ago

Xcloud is included in your game pass sub.

It works for any game you have on your local Xbox and isn’t in game pass. And it will work with all games on game pass when Xcloud is ready for launch.

I was just saying I like where Xbox is going in.

Sony seems to be happy doing the traditional home console

Nintendo has their niche hybrid

All 3 different and all 3 can be successful and each has a place in the market.

sinspirit1501d ago

@SLiSH83

It's not included in your sub. That's speculation that they may create a combo package to sub to all three in one payment. Unless I failed to find this info on Google. We don't know yet.

They have said there is a feature called console streaming, which from what they said makes your console a "local xCloud server". I don't like that terminology because it makes it sound like it's locked behind a service to use your own console remotely. I'm pretty sure it won't be locked behind xcloud, but, here we have free to play games still locked behind Live.

Umm, there is another console manufacturer that's had game streaming and remote play for years. What is MS doing differently?

KillBill1501d ago

@sinspirit- there is zero talk from MS of adding a new subscription process to Game Pass to cover the xCloud service coming to it. It has only been marketed as 'coming to GamePass'... not 'bundled with GamePass' or some other myriad of fictitious plans you might simply create from your mind.

sinspirit1501d ago (Edited 1501d ago )

@KillBill

The console is also marketed as having online gaming features, but they aren't free. The same article asks the very same question. "coming to game pass" doesn't mean free. And, where would you logically find that establishing hardware, the demanding internet, and infrastructure would be a freebie unless explicitly stated? MS is normally very direct if it's something that would be an easy positive to mention. All these journalists asking about price and they would have said free by now(with GamePass).

SegaGamer1501d ago

Gaming is my main hobby, but I'm not going to spend every minute of my free time doing it. A pc connected to my monitor on my desk and my monitor on my tv stand so I can play on my sofa is enough for me.

cytricks1501d ago (Edited 1501d ago )

I apologies in advance for my ignorance of what is going on. But, can someone explain to me why or how do game companies have the right to stop you from playing on the Geforce now service?

Like isn't it just like renting a box from a local PC store, signing in and playing your games you bought? How can they dictate where you play your games? As far as I can tell you never agree that the games you bought has to be played on a machine you personally own out right. Hell I bought games to play on a friend's console when I was a kid, was that illegal?

And if it is not illegal why is NVIDIA allowing this to happen?

Thank you in advance.

Tech51501d ago

it is a bit conflicting isn't it. it's ok to play your purchased games in your own home but not over a network.
companies see there is extra money to be made. the likely of all reasons.

bishup251501d ago (Edited 1501d ago )

i'm guessing Nvidia will probably just have to partner extra on top of their game bundle partnerships.
what they currently do supporting Nvidia gameworks but also support geforce now incentives with their partnerships.
so far Remedy has been on board with this.

Sony Says The PS5 Is Its “Most Profitable Generation To-Date"

During Sony’s recent business segment meeting and investor presentation regarding its game and network services, the PlayStation company revealed that PlayStation 5 is the company’s “most profitable generation to-date.”

It’s the top slide of the presentation, showing that in its first four years, the PS5 generation has already hit $106 billion in sales, having almost caught up to the PS4’s total $107 billion generated.

Operating income for the PS5 generation has also already surpassed that of the PS4, having now reached $10 billion.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I wouldn't doubt it. They released a high quality system. A lot of high quality games from themselves and their support of 3rd party developers and indies. They released many high quality remakes and remasters. They released a high quality GaaS game going against the naysayers thinking Sony would abandon single player games. And they most likely are profiting a lot more than PS1, PS2 PS4 and the loss leading PS3 that drained all their profits.

Now, I'll wait to see what's cooking tomorrow. But can you use some of those profits to better support your high quality VR headset? Because, by supporting it, you can sell more games and more systems and make more profits?

jznrpg2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I want RPGs for PSVR2! Good ones of course

shinoff21832d ago

If it had some rpgs I would buy right fking now. It looks dope and alot of fun, but it's biggest game resident evil 4(maybe) I've got no interest in. I'm not a fan of racing games, even with that metro game coming i was never much into that series. Rpgs would be fantastic.

MrNinosan2d ago

Lemme know if ya wanna play some Zenith 🙌
Bought it at release, but haven't played it more than 1-2 hours but for sure on my "todo list".

Cacabunga2d ago

Normal when they released mostly cross gen games so far. That’s a lot of money saved..
We haven’t seen what PS5 can do yet. 4years in and PS4 games still look great to me. The gen leap isn’t quite there yet.

--Onilink--2d ago

The interesting metric for me is the $106billion in operating income/profit (not sales as mentioned in the article) reaching the same as the PS4 did with only half the consoles sold.

In particular because they all are supposed to be making the most per hardware sold after a few years when manufacturing costs are down.

So even putting inflation aside(and the higher console price), it is interesting that they could reach PS4 $ with just half the consoles sold.

Maybe there is more to the metric thats whats seen at face value, but they have clearly been making a lot more money than before on the software side (with also less games released I suppose, given its only been half the generation so far)

VersusDMC2d ago

The bulk of the money has to be coming from the 30% cut on all games and microtransactions. Especially on all the free to play juggernauts like genshin, apex, fortnight, etc.

--Onilink--2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

@Versus

They are definitely making a lot on that for sure (which the $70 price increase factors into as well), but its not like many of those games werent around for the PS4 too.

They might be counting the gen as a whole and not just PS5 itself (so extra profit from PC sales, whatever that may be)

PS+ price increase and different tiers probably amount to part of that too.

But in general, its still quite a surprising metric. Half the time, half the consoles sold, less first party games released so far and still already making more of a profit than last gen is quite something, and as mentioned, there is probably more to it that we dont know, after all, since we are talking about operating income, all the expenses they have also factor into it, so it is also possible that they have found ways to significantly reduce that + all the means of increased revenue that appear to be factoring into the equation

All in all, just an interesting situation from a business perspective

porkChop2d ago

It's for the whole generation, so it would likely be including PC. They also make much more profit on digital sales vs retail, and digital is far more prominent these days. The generation also started at the height of COVID when everyone was home, spending far more money on gaming/hobbies. It makes a lot of sense for this gen to be more profitable.

This will surely shut up all the new trolling accounts trying to spread lies and non facts in other articles comment sections before this article is posted.

Hofstaderman2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Obscurely, those trolls or troll will not show in these articles as the truth is contradictory to his or their orchard-sized daily dose of copium and hopium.

Tacoboto2d ago

Or... They're intentionally trolling you guys specifically. Because they know it upsets you so easily.

Name-dropping Orchard, after this many months? How long has it been and he's still in your thoughts?

Elda2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I'm quite sure the individual is reading these positive comments downvoting & seething at the same time. Edit: It just downvoted my comment...lol!!

Hofstaderman2d ago

No I'm entertained by this individual. I love unhinged people, they are so interesting lol.

repsahj2d ago

Wow! I am super impressed that in just 4 years, ps5 already caught up to the PS4's. Congratulations.

JackBNimble1d 13h ago

That happens when half of your games are cross platform. I'm still waiting to see what the ps5 is capable of, because they sure haven't pushed any limits.

And where are all these ps5 exclusive games?

sagapo2d ago

Not really surprised as Sony barely has any competition at the moment.

Zotac To Reveal Their Portable Gaming PC At COMPUTEX 2024

This sounds like a very interesting mobile gaming PC. ZOTAC returns to COMPUTEX 2024 to showcase its biggest push yet into brand-new product categories from Handheld Gaming.

My last 2 gpus have both been zotac. No issues. I'm interested.
