I have EA Play and it is not just the sports games. It also includes the regular EA games like PvZ, battlefield, NFS, star wars, titanfalls, and all bioware games.

I haven't bought a EA game in years now, but have played them all.

So, maybe my math is wrong here, but isn't it still cheaper to get PSNow at the yearly rate, PS+ at the yearly rate, and pay the $4.99 a month for EA Play? Or at least an equivalent price? If you pay everything by the year, it seems that the PS combination comes in a bit cheaper by about $5-6.

Disregarding special promotional costs that may exist.

Edit: Forgot they raised the price of PS+, so it'd be about $5 more paying yearly for the various services. I don't care to figure the math for the monthly costs of these things because I don't think it's that important. My curiosity just got the better of me above.

Edit 2: So decided to do the math more, and seems that if you pay monthly, GPU is a better deal. If you pay yearly, and want all three, then you save about $30 on PS based on the yearly costs of the services.

Maybe I'm missing something though. Anyone feel free to correct me.

EA Play is a lot more then just sports games. They have every game they release go to EA Play. All the Star Wars games, PvZ, Battlefield, NFS, and Dragon Age, etc.

You can go and buy games if you want. And it is expensive. But, now I play almost all great games available to XB and only pay my $15 CDN per month. I am not a person that has to save money, but this is just smart financial choice.

That's actually really cool. Really no negative to this, it's just free and additional to what you pay for. I've been Playstation only since the original Xbox just due to the fact no 1st party games have intrigued me enough to buy another Xbox console. The new studio acquisitions and Gamepass however has won me over and I will be purchasing it this month with the Xcloud release. I'm going to try it out on my Samsung Galaxy tablet and see how it goes. I generally have good experience with PS Now streaming on PC and PS Remote Play on my phone/tablet, so I'm pretty confident MS will do a good job with it.

Instead of getting the $300/$500 Xbox as well I can just use that money to upgrade my PC and future proof it for the next few years, Allowing me to download all of these games on PC as well, and play some PC games I wouldn't otherwise of been able to due to having an outdated PC.

Gamers should be pretty happy about the direction we're going. I feel like it's the first time in a long time I can enjoy PS/Xbox/PC in the same generation without stressing about the $$$ investment and guilt of not using a system for a while.

I love this deal, I'm not a big Xbox fan in terms of their exclusive games (I'm not too fond of fps or driving games) but game pass allows me to play all the Gears series and a bunch of amazing games for £10.99 a month (retail). I got to play Wasteland 3 and Crusader Kings 3 on day one, and now that value for money is only going to go up.

Yes, it's only EA play and not their pro version, but it's hard to argue against that Microsoft are being very positive in the PC space.

As of right now and the info that is available Xbox and gamepass is the best place to play. Console that is $300 at 1440p up to 120fps if you want true 4k then get the series x for $500. Now with ea play you have hundreds of games on demand whenever you want. Idk about anyone else but nothing can compare to this sort of deal. Right now the only thing going for Sony is a couple of exclusives not much which makes it seem whatever price point they show won't have more bang for your buck then getting an Xbox.

Value dont matter much to a lot of people on N4G. Brand loyalty seems to take precedence.

MS has a great entry price for all gaming budget types. They even offer a monthly payment plan for qualified individuals who cant drop $300-$500 up front, the great thing is, your getting premium consoles and premium services for that price. Gamepass Ultimate should be most gamers dream..soon it will have Xcloud and EA play not to mention showing attention to the PC gamers, it all adds up to value that is top of the line.

Of course most things are opinion based, but it's hard as a gamer not to see the tremendous value in what MS is offering.

Value is appreciated. But when you watch a company lose a lot of money to get people to move to their products, it should be concerning, and people need to realize that if it's not sustainable, it's either going to change or go away. What may be good now may not be in the future, and making a console purchase decision on what may be a short term gain isnt the best idea...although no ones life will be irrevocably ruined by it.

MS has a long term plan which should be pretty obvious, so getting the customers now gives them more power in the future.

I think even just game pass as cheap as they were doing it is an amazing value. Even at $10/month it's a pretty good value. But MS goals dont line up with where I want to see the industry go. That isnt what keeps me off game pass though...that's more about that GP doesnt fall in line with how I play games, and the cheap subs require other subs which I dont want to pay for.

MS is literally offering one of the best deals ever had in gaming. Gamepass/EA catalogue + the console itself, for 25/35 a month, depending what system you want.

This is literally insane value for a consumer. You have access to a giant amount of quality games, day one.

You're downplaying the company because they had a weak generation in terms of 1st party, but they just bought a good number of award winning studios, and still have names like Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable in their pockets.

I know you said you don't want to play old games, but the fact remasters did so well in the past, and the fact how excited people get when new titles come to gamepass/ps now/ ps plus says there's a bunch of people happy to play previously released content.

This might Legitimately be the strongest generation for Xbox, and it's because they've made smart moves through the last few years for the brand, even if the system, itself, didn't resonate with people as the PS4 did.

We're talking about a massive quantity of games for a decent price. The individual maybe vary, from great (Forza Horizon 4, Mass Effect) to so-so one (Need For Speed, Anthem). But there are more games than you can play. This is more then make up to the uneven quality of games. Just look at Netflix & HBO. They are also operating under the same strategy (some high quality exclusive programmes plus a lot of so-so ones).

Plus, you can pickup some 2nd-tire game that you would not normally buy at full price. I played Vampyr under GamePass. The subscription strategy give these smaller projects a fighting chance. So I see this is a win (for gamers)-win (for MS & EA)- win (for smaller developers) situation.

There are several games that overlap but for instance Age of Empires is a GP PC game and not on console.

I can't speak for PC, but on the console side there are WAY more than 100 games a month available. They add far more games than they remove. I would expect the same thing will happen with GP for PC soon. They are raising the price to 9.99 next week, as it leaves beta, so hopefully they will add more games to justify the price increase

EA hasn't exactly been in good graces with the gaming community. Their recent stunts in UFC, Madden, and FIFA don't really bode well for their bottom line.

Question is, what does that mean for the quality of their games going forward?

I'm not saying this is a bad deal. Not at all. But we'll see what happens to the already- dwindling quality of their titles. I don't buy EA titles. Haven't since Dead Space 3. I will withhold judgment, but I am truly fascinated in seeing what becomes of their games.

Personally not saying it isn't.... But MS have changed what they call a console, they haven brought many new great Ip's and exclusives pretty much the end of both the 360 and one gen, all this money they've spent has been not so much games, but the Gaas ideal, Subscriptions are the new order of the day.....
First it was to play anything online, Now its 2 things, another form of DRM, and also quantity over quality...
I really believe that's why they were supporting OneS.. Theres alot out there in the wild, and the cost of subscription with all those numbers is to hard to pass up...
And how about the industry complaining about the ever increasing Budgets for AAA games... ?
So now this has completely changed the narrative.... How can a few bucks a month , and in many cases the yearly purchase the price of 1 or 2 retail games not effect content? Many buy more games a year in revenue , whether physical or Digital..
