This along with their new controller are the perfect compliments for the already awesome 2023 lineup. Next year looks to be an amazing year for Sony.

Looking forward to staring down a videogame representation of my own arm holding a pistol and squeezing those adaptive triggers. That sort of immersion is it going to be something we haven't felt before. Now imagine hearing and feeling bullets whizzing past your head with return fire

Eidolon556d ago

I really hope physical releases at launch will be a thing for VR2.

Profchaos556d ago (Edited 556d ago )

I just want to see a commitment from Sony I feel a little burned by their lack of support on the psvr1 to be honest with some great games but not as many as I would want for the outlay.

I really love the tech and premise so I've pre ordered a psvr 2 worst case I imagine the community will homebrew it for pcvr support.

I'd really love confirmation if the rumoured killzone VR game that was moved from psvr1 to 2

Eidolon556d ago

I think it'd be longs ways from PCVR support for PSVR2, and probably will be finicky with mobo/cards. I just hope there's enough demand for devs to update psvr1 compatibility for psvr2.

I don't think you'll have to worry at all. This headset's features like this above, make sure it gets supported by developers across the board from Sony's first party, console third parties, PC developers and indie developers. PS VR 2 has the power behind it ten fold, the awesome Dual Sense controls, inside out tracking, 360 movement, analog sticks, etc. But even then, PSVR still got over 600 games and experiences. That's a lot to play through. And Sony either made games like Astrobot or Blood and Truth. Or published games like Farpoint and Firewall Zero Hour. And third parties made games like Skyrim, Super Hot, Sairento, etc.

Some developers didn't port because of control parity or power. PS VR 2 doesn't have that problem. We already see what looks like Sony launching DAY ONE with Horizon. An inhouse developer that never made a PSVR game. But is there now. Capcom already showing support with RE8. PC developers and indie developers jumping at the chance to bring their games to PS VR 2 to get more sales. If anything, you're going to be flooded with so many games, you'll have a hard time choosing which ones to get and how broke you'll be.

Once analog sticks and power was a sure thing, every type of game is now possible on it. There will still be teleport and click turning for those that need it. But the games are coming. Sony can't show all their cards with increasing competition coming next year. They got to have some bombs ready to throw.

The fact that they are releasing a second headset after profiting off of the first, means they are showing they are committed to VR.

I think the support issue is less of a concern now. Sony released some of the best games VR has to offer to date, despite the move controllers.

The fact we have sticks now and brand new controllers, PC VR games may well release day and date on PSVR2. The power of PS4 also held them back, but with PS5, foveated rendering and SSD, this is no longer an issue.

This is why Sony announced AAA hybrid games that work in both flat screen or VR, because there's no reason now to expect the hardware to hold them back.

Those same issues meant we didn't get some of the best PC VR games, so we can expect many to arrive early in PSVR2 life cycle.

Then there's the Quest catalogue. Sure, it's mostly shovelware with dated graphics, but there are some real gems in amongst them. With inside-out tracking and analogue sticks, we can expect some of them soon too and day one in the future.

Got my preorder. Now the long wait :-(

CBaoth555d ago

off topic. Spamming PS articles to help anyone still having troubles obtaining a PS5. Looking for one? Go to Best Buy today. No online, in store pick up only. They started selling the Black Friday stock early. My local store had like 500 available - GOW bundles at $559

CBaoth555d ago (Edited 555d ago )

doing my part Sully. If anyone having trouble finally gets one because they read my post, the five minutes I spent spamming will be worth it lol. The manager came in last night and told me they got so much stock they had to literally start putting it on the floor. Wanted to go myself this morning to verify it plus my "boy" wanted one so....

Sorry but PSVR2 is dead and double dead at any sale price. It was dead before it launched as the "premium" VR scene lost all the AAA developers and now it is all indie mobile phone crap quality software.

State of Play | May 30, 2024

State of Play is back! Tune in live for updates on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year.

Im getting a bit of GotG vibes from Concord.

Ragnarok coming September 2024... that's just shy of 2 years since the PS5 release in November 2022.

-Foxtrot1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

I thought exactly the same. If they made it more like the GotG game and it wasn't online focused I'd have been sold instantly.

BISHOP-BRASIL1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

Yup, I was hyped up by the cinematic trailer and immediately put off the moment the gameplay trailer started, that was very high quality and great concept cinematic just for another Overwatch wannabe... Here's hoping they succeed so eventually someday they make an actual campaign focused entry for the franchise, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm definitely not falling for always online crap and FOMO just to follow drip fed cinematic "content".

EDIT: I'm still watching it as I comment... OMG they have another hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, seriously, they missed 2020 or something? For those not into online only and VR games, gotta say, poor show so far...

Profchaos1d 13h ago

Gotg would of been a hit if it released before Avengers was my goty a few years back so I'm intrigued here

RaidenBlack1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

GotG is very underrated and had the unfortunate luck of releasing just after Avengers.
Its really good and more people should play it.

Lightning771d 9h ago

Concord didn't do anything for me personally just another Overwatch mash up with other fps stuff. I mostly popped for Dynasty Warriors for next year. That was my biggest reveal I was genuinely excited for.

No Ghost 2. It's very clear Sony will wait later to Announce the Big Aaa's they don't wanna announce stuff too early and rather announce it closer to release.

darthv721d 13h ago

Maybe its just me but Astrobot looked more R&C inspired than ever.

P_Bomb1d 13h ago

Astro won the show. Looks epic! Huge bosses too like from the PSVR game.

shinoff21831d 13h ago

Astro bot and silent hill 2 remake are what I'm liking out of this.

RaidenBlack1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

Most games appeared good.
Where Winds Meet and Monster Hunter seemed like those needed a bit more polish but that's ok as those aren't releasing anytime soon but I am still kinda worried regarding SH2Remake. Still looks rough and from rear view, James Sunderland looks nearly identical to Leon Kennedy's model from RE4Remake. Hope I am wrong though.
Other games were decent. Even Marvel Rivals.
Ballad of Antara was the highlight for me, followed by Infinity Nikki(purely on the art style alone).
And glad that, Path of Exile 2 is coming to PS5 and Ragnarok is coming to PC!
Behemoth for VR2 also looked really interesting.

PapaBop1d 12h ago

You actually liked Infinity Nikki art style?

PSPSA1d 4h ago

Was my favorite looking game of the show, art style looks amazing

RaidenBlack1d 2h ago

Its not my type of game ...but the design and art style is really well thought out

Lightning771d 9h ago (Edited 1d 9h ago )

Marvel Rivals had a PC invite alpha test a few weeks back and they love the hell out it saying it's an Overwatch killer. I'm definitely down to play and play as my favorite.

STORM. ❄️💨🌊⚡

There's a closed beta in July on consoles but I doubt I'll be able to get in.

InUrFoxHole1d 6h ago

In overwatch 's defense didn't it kill itself?

Michiel19891d 2h ago

they also gave out beta keys where you had to sign an nda not to say anything negative about the game, otherwise you could not play. Don't support stuff like that :) surprised they even showed it here cause it looks terrible and it will fail faster than Artifact
