XDefiant: Not a "One and Done" Title, Ubisoft Plans to Support It for a Long Time

For those looking forward to XDefiant, you'll be glad to know that Ubisoft plans to support it for a long time according to the devs.

I am still skeptic, but I can't deny that it looks good, it will definitely not break Call of Duty in any way, but a free option/clone might be able to gather a fairly good install base. Let's wait and see

It's just needs to advertise and manipulate the CoD players to get them drop CoD and play this game. Basically get streamers to play and stream, spread the word about the game.

I think is going to rock COD more than people expect it to. Alot of people don't like the slower paced route they've taken COD (I like both the slower and the more fast arcade style of COD) and liked the more fast paced arcade shooters that COD had abandoned with focus shifting to BR and DMZ, BR of which is universally disliked compared to the first WZ.

Content creators are all surprised by how well this is minus net code, something Ubisoft has said it's redoing. Ex-COD Devs who are working on the game have listed a endless list of things thats in this that arguably ruined COD.

I don't hate COD, I play it every week but people really do miss the game being a fast paced arcade shooter, a void this game is looking to fill

excaliburps409d ago

It plays well too. I kinda dig its pace and gunlpay.

You never know tbh. It could very well blow up, pretty good game in its own right

XDefiant has potential to give COD a run ngl

Thundercat77409d ago

I said it before. Now that COD is going to be limited under Xbox management, new games have a better chance to get over COD.

This is an opportunity for developers.

ChasterMies408d ago

I’ve heard this before. Anthem, Marvel’s Avengers, and many more had publishers committed to supporting their games until they weren’t.

Babylon's Fall for a non-shooting GaaS example...

Ubisoft knows how to make a good feeling shooter and Rainbow Six Siege has had a very good run as it is. They make a lot of mistakes but if this (1) feels good, (2) is balanced, (3) has 14 *good* maps, and (4) has a good economy then I hope it can carve a niche for itself.

I hate Battle Royale and Halo Infinite is running pretty alone as an actively-supported F2P Arena-type shooter. With Epic never returning to Unreal Tournament and Counter-Strike being PC only there's plenty of room for more.

It doesn't matter, most likely the player count is low and the game will be a ghost town once the Twitch people farm it for content,

XDefiant is making players realize they suck at video games

Gamers have spent a long time complaining about SBMM, but since XDefiant doesn't have it they are realizing they aren't good at video games.

I am one of those players who are learning this. My k/d is probably 0.5 on there, and I think it’s absolutely great. I’d rather find ways to win against better players than to be coddled into thinking I’m good at something.

Games that highlight deaths In objective type game modes are pretty thick tbh
The game hit registration & being hit behind cover & snipers having zero flinch for a game that was In a playable state 2yrs ago is pretty annoying.

Onto the subject, People get older> People's reaction times get worse. I grew up on GoW/Halo/MW2 - I think its fair to say between 2013-2020 we've had a fair amount of shooters since then & people have become more accustomed to'em.

SubtilizZer14h ago

I come from the GoW/Halo/MW2 days myself (hated call of duty back then) Lmao I be smacking people in this game. The weapons are really all over place though. If I had perfect hit reg and didn’t get shot behind cover my gawd… I’d get reported every match. Game is solid though…

I hate snipers. I just have to say it. It’s the most annoying way to die in these kinds of games. No flinch is crazy. It’s why I dislike cod over all.

When Halo 5 came out I could play at mid to high Diamond-level, six years later in Halo Infinite I struggle to maintain platinum level rank. I’m simply not quick enough to keep up. I can still main a KD average of 1.1 to 1.3 in Gears, Halo and COD, but don’t enjoy COD that much anymore due to it being super twitchy. Also how twitchy is XDefiant ?

P_Bomb13h ago

@Sciurus
My kid plays it full twitch. But he rakes in the kills. So he’s whipping around his camera a lot.
